During the COVID-19 crisis, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and home-based businesses faced severe operational disruptions. CARE International needed to rapidly build resilience and business management capabilities for Syrian refugees and Jordanian entrepreneurs to sustain their livelihoods.
The program needed to reach hundreds of participants across diverse locations, many with limited digital literacy, during a period when in-person training was not feasible.
EDAMA delivered two phases of online training programs spanning 23 weeks total, combining consulting, training, and coaching across three core areas: financial management, marketing strategy, and product packaging.
Phase 1 trained 100 MSMEs over 12 weeks with 160 hours of interactive instruction. Phase 2 expanded to 309 participants over 11 weeks with 480 hours of training. Both phases included digital literacy orientation, pre- and post-training assessments, financial resilience planning, marketing strategy development, and social media action plan creation.
The team included a project manager and marketing consultant, financial management consultant, and packaging specialist — ensuring participants received comprehensive, practical business development support.
409 MSME participants completed the program across both phases, expressing high satisfaction about the positive impact on their ability to manage and sustain their businesses during the crisis.
CARE International recognized EDAMA's outstanding performance including quality of deliverables, professional attitude, and commitment — subsequently recommending EDAMA for future MSME development initiatives in the region.
